Women’s Bible Study
Walking with Women of the Old Testament: Their Stories and Their Struggles
Join Parish Associate Rev. Dottie LaPenta for “Walking with Women of the Old Testament: Their Stories and Their Struggles.” Participants will read and reflect on the stories of six women as told in the Old Testament. Exclusion, adversity, frustration, high expectation, isolation, and even danger knocked on their doors. Their lives were indeed different from ours and yet the issues of justice, mercy, and faith and the hope to know their strengths and have their voices heard were as present for their circumstances as they are for women of today.
The Bible study will take place via Zoom on Friday mornings from 8:30-9:30 am. The class begins Friday, June 12, and continues weekly through July 10. Participants do not need to be present for every session to benefit from the reading, learning, and discussion. June 19 – Devotion and Survival (Ruth, Chapters 1-4)
June 26 – Resistance and Resilience (Esther, Chapters 1-10)
July 3 – Peaceful Confrontation With Cleverness Thrown In (Abigail) (1 Samuel 25: 2-42)
July 10 – Who is this Person Anyway? The Wife of Proverbs 31 (Proverbs 31:10-31)
